Viz-Able is a group of people with a wide range of abilities who supported by hft staff and volunteers. The project is co-ordinated by Tony O’Connell a freelance photographer. We meet at Cornerstone, a community centre, which serves the Cottingley estate on the outskirts of Bradford.
Every member of the team contributes according to ability so everything we do is the result of a team effort. This approach is particularly appropriate for video making – just look at the credits next time you go to the cinema to see how many people it takes to produce a film. Team members come up with ideas, write scripts, act, interview, operate the video camera, take still photos, create visual & sound effects, do voiceovers, process images and keep everything organised.
We have mounted three successful public exhibitions, at, Cotttingley Cornerstone, South Square Gallery and Saltaire Arts Trail. We have undertaken commissions for Travel Train in conjunction with First Bus and for Waddiloves Health Centre where our images adorn the entrance hall and waiting room.
We welcome opportunities to work with other groups and to show our work. Please contact us if this is of interest.
Viz-Able operates with funding from the Arts Council, Aspire and Bradford Metropolitan District Council.
